Noticeable clank?

I searched around on here, but I'll just ask. I have an interesting clank happening when I shift and then get on the throttle and when I let off the throttle all the way. U-joints? It's got to the point where I have to figure it out, I thought you folks would know right off the bat what I was talking about.
Any suggestions would be grand as always! Hope everyone is well!

Also when you have the d/s out replacing the u joints..... ck the R&P slack/play.

Also chock the wheels cause it will roll when you remove the rear d/s.

Yes, do block the wheels. There was a guy that died down here a couple of years ago when removing the driveshaft. The van rolled on him.

Also a good idea to mark the location of the shaft at the rear end.

Dads 77 has clunked from day one.
Dana 60 full floater, 4.10 or 11, open dif and 4 speed.
I remember he took it to the Ford shop and they told him it was because it was a posi and all posi's do that. I believed it back then but I was a fifteen year old kid too.
Anyway, 37 years later and I know for a fact that the rear end has never been touched. It will still clunk once in a while but works as well and quiet as day one.

And google up on drive shaft "phasing", having the slip yoke and d/s in line...when you put it back together to reinstall it.

That started on my Mustang a while back. Turned out the bolts where the driveshaft meets the rear end had started to back off. They have Loctite on them now.

Thanks again, you folks are the best! I'll check all that stuff when I have the time. Probably mess with it next weekend. It was strangely nice out for like ten days here in the middle of January, but I think it will get nasty again soon. So weather permitting I'll get under there and assess the situation. Or I'll have my mechanic do it. hahahaha.
