Hello all,
This is my 73' F250 with 390 and auto transmission that I retrieved from my cousins ranch in Montana. New tank, brakes, brake lines, fuel lines, etc to get it reliable around town. I think it might have the wrong carb on it though...It works fine but there is some linkage from the transmission that has no place to connect on the carb? Also it doesn't have an automatic choke. The tag on the choke reads DT3F HC. What do you think? http://imgur.com/rJMGYRi
Nice truck! As for your carb/linkage, sounds to me like youre describing the transmission kick down linkage. You definitely want to get that hooked up. Can ya post a pic of your current carb setup?
Wow. Something (actually many things) about that carb look weird...to me that is. Yup you're missing the choke and it looks like all the housings for it too, and definitely some sort of adapter linkage for the kickdown. Are there any other markings on the carb body or anywhere that day what brand it is? Almost looks kinda like a motorcraft 2100, but I may be mistaken.
According to the tag It is a motorcraft and the only other numbers are: B 3F 27
The shade tree mechanic in Montana could have dropped this thing in cuz he had it on the shelf (according to my cousin out there who I got the truck from). What would be the proper carb? Or can I buy parts for this one?
Hmm...my best guess for what SHOULD be there would be a motorcraft 2100/2150. Since your truck is a '73 I would THINK it should have a 2100 but that can be swapped out for the 2150. All in all, you can't go wrong with a Motorocraft 2150 for your application.
