ok,im having one issue with my transmission. the truck will shift into all the gears but it will not shift unless the gas pedal is floored.anybody have any ideas it feels like the motor will blow before it shifts.it does not shift hard just very late
i just installed a new tps sensor and my speedometer works great
Just because it is new does not mean anything other than your wallet is lighter. Check the output with a meter. Turn the key to the On/Run position then measure the closed throttle value. Slowly open the throttle to verify the output is linear to ~5.00 VDC (VREF).
ok i tested the tps and it was fine. i tried aligning the gear selector in neutral and it was perfectly lined up so i tried swapping the 97s gear selector and it still wont shift and i checked the vss.my last truck was a 86 diesel with the c6 and u could adjust the vss to move your shoft points can u do that with the e4od? could the replacement tranny be shot
i pulled codes tonight and the only one i coul tell was code 121 i believe it has to do with the tps sensor. i was thinking about going and getting a 97 shift solenoid and installing the 97s plug
thank you very much for all the helpful information i returned my tps sensor and bought a better one installed it and i cant even tell the truck is shifting its so smooth. in use to all mechanical motors this 97 is the newest truck i ever owned and thanks again great forum and people
I don't think I'm hijacking here because I'm faced with a similar dilemma..
Will I be safe using a pre '95 computer on a '97 E4OD?
No diode protection?
I would not do it as it may be hard the PCM Computer and may also be hard on the clutch disks.
They are damper diodes to stop ringing in the solenoid coils. A ringing coil will make the valve shutter and its oil flow would pulse as you will not get a positive off and on from the valve. With out the diodes you could also cause a high voltage spike and take out something in the PCM Computer. The coils might be acting like an Ignition coil also.
