I have a an '02 SuperCab which is the same as the 99, and I have put my nephew and my niece in the back with no problem. The boy is 7 and has a booster seat still, and my niece is about 9 months old and has a pretty good sized car seat still. They both fit fine in there. In fact, I'm piling them in the truck and we're all heading to West Virginia this weekend. A car seat should fit fine in that truck.
I had to put a rear-facing infant seat in the middle of the back seat to avoid having the passenger seat all the way forward. I currenlty have a rear facing toddler seat (20-40 lbs) in the middle of the rear bench because it would not fit behind the front seats even if they were all the way forward. When I first put the seat in I was really cussing that I did not get a crew cab, but now that I have gotten used to it, I like it just fine. The worst part is stepping way up into the 4x4 with a baby in your arms.
I currently have a rear facing infant carrier in mine. No problems. I did have to get the dealer to install teather straps, which they did free of charge.
I'm in the same boat. I have a 2 yr old boy and he faces forward. I was looking at the supercab and tried to put him in the back seat. After sliding the front seat all the way forward, he still does not have enough room to sit confortably and has a blast kicking the seat in front of him the entire test drive. (drove the salesman nuts!!!). You are better off just going for a crew cab and having the extra room.
Now my problem is the fuel tank issue. To get all 38 gallons it has to be a long bed, but a crew cab long bed is as big as my entire zip code and will not fit in my parking spot at work. Maybe I can just stunt the growth of the boy to get the S/cab?!?!?!?!

My problem too. Wanted the longbed\crew but not the length. The SuperCab works well now because the kids are 8 and 5, but in a few years, that 8 year old will be too big. I guess I'll get a CrewCab short bed then.
