another lift question

im thinking of doing a 4 inc lift on my, new to me, 1990 f150 4X4, with the 4.9 straight six. id like to be able to run 33X12.50 tires. does anyone know if the 4 inch will clear the tires. also is the increase in tire size going to affect performance. another question, and this may sound stupid, what kind of a ride can i expect out of a 4 inch lift. ive been looking at 4 inch lift kits on ebay, they come complete for about $500.00 and the people that buy them seem to be happy, at least they leave good feedback. and one last question, seeing as my truck, and it seems like most, already sit 1-2 inches low in the front, i wounder if the 4 inch lift kit would really be a 5 & 1/2 inch for the front and 4 for the back. thanks in advance.

With a 4 inch lift you'll easily be able to clear 33" tires, probably even 35'. If you do go with larger tires you have to get a wheel with enough backspacing to allow for the larger width. Because even with 31x10.5 15's my tires rub at full turn. I would suspect with a mild 4" lift the ride should remain pretty close to stock just make sure you get it alligned after the lift the Ford TTB has a nasty reputation of getting misaligned especially after lifts. I don't know much about specific kits I would just ask other truck owners. Most people I know are more than happy to talk about the mods they've done to their trucks. Or just visit your local 4wheel parts and accesiories they're always happy to help.

It will easly clear the tires, ride isn't usually affected that much, the tires will rub on the radius arms unless the kit comes with longer ones which are recommended. 4" lifts usually are 4" in the front and like 2" or 2.5" in the rear. I have 33's under a 2.5" lift which means that I run 33's but don't have to spend extra $ on steering accessories, brake lines, and all the other odds and ends needed to do a 4". If all you want to do is run 33's, I'd recommend just going with that, it saves alot of money and unexpected problems (accept for radius arm drop brackets )

ok no-bs. then with your 2 & 1/2 inch lift, that means you have a lift that gave you 2 & 1/2 in the front and maybe 1/2 in the back, right. which kit did you get. could i just get front springs and a alignment and be done with it, thanks.

another lift question

If you only do a 2.5" lift and put in 33's there isn't much suspension travel left. Most people put 4" on their 33s. How much are you willing to spend? If you want the truck to ride like stock, get the 4" skyjacker lift system. You absolutely get what you pay for with lift kits, the cheaper you pay the crappier it's going to ride. I have a 6" skyjacker lift system and it rides awesome.

another lift question

what bothers me the most is the front end being lower than the rear. im used to driving a 75 chevy 3/4 ton that sits pefectly level, of course it has one ton suspension on it, factory. also have a 55 ****** jeep. m38a1, with a 4 inch trailmaster lift and it sits level. so i got to thinking if im going to lift the front, how much more would be involed to just lift the whole truck. on the other hand, i sure do love the way it rides right now. i posted another post to see what brand of leveling springs people have tried, and if they ended up with the same ride quailty, but havent heard anything back yet. kinda of think driving my old silverado with the 16 inch rims and tires has made the f150 look a little mild. i guess leveling springs and 31. 10/50 15s would help. if anyone has tried leveling springs that they are happy with please let me know what brand, thanks.
