I will be driving the western U.S. and stopping here and there for extended camping. My purchase price range will be under $6000.

Back in the day I could dive into simple auto mechanics and figure things out. Now I'll settle for basic maintenance and anything else I can figure out how to do on my own with the help of the internet world and some key tools.
