I am putting new duraspark distributor in my 300 inline 6, goes in fine but last 1/8 inch. i'm not sure if it's bottoming or oring is real tight. where could i press without breaking something? any help would be appreciated.

It should go on in with little pressure. Your oil pump shaft is probably not lined up. See if you can grab the fan belt and turn the engine a little bit. It may drop in then.
