Strange Noise
Hello, new owner of 00 Excursion w/V10. Have had it for about a month and a week ago picked up on a noise. Sounds like gurgling or purculating to me -- wife calls it a "rolling" noise. Anyhow, hear it at low speeds, but only going forward. Seems to stop after you get up to speed, but at times I think I can hear it when speed picks up. Last night paid real close attention and it seems to stop after shifting into third and does stop when you shift to nuetral. I should say, overall it shifts well at all points, runs smooth, no other warning signs. So, do you think I have a tranny/drive-line problem or is something else being set off by the bandwith of vibration from the tranny at those lower speeds? One person on another forum suggested their's had a wire harness that turned out to be the culprit as it was hitting the firewall. Anyone confirm if this is an issue on the Fords? thanks!
