This might give you's a chuckle (or heart attack).

This is what I'm currently doing my beach work with:

Geebus, I struggle enough keeping my dirt bike upright on the sand.

I guess I manly was worried that a 12.5 wide tyre would look a bit skinny on our trucks as opposed to a 15.5 wide. Kinda a propotional thing like the difference between a 10.5 and a 12.5 on a landcruiser or patrol?? I will wait and see
A 12.5 will be a touch wider than your current tire, and as for a "look", I think they look fine underneath our trucks.
FWIW, I am going to be fitting a set of 295/65R20 (slightly narrower, but taller than the 35x12.5's) and I think they look good.

You should be able to fit 36x13.5's without rubbing (if you can find a set).
I personally don't like tires that are too wide tho, as it really eats your fuel.

That will be the offset that causes that, as it acts like a lever arm on the front end components the more you push the rim out of the wheel well. Leaf spring front trucks (all the Aussie effies) are more susceptible as the rims have more offset to begin with, fitting rims with more offset makes them wear quicker.

Hi WA F250, Ive just gone down the new tyres and wheels road too after fitting 4"lift on my F250. Looked a little like a roller skate with the stock rims and tyres.

Ended up with some 8 x 16 ATX Ledge rims and 315x75x16 Micky Thomson Muddies, couldn't be happier, looks heaps better.

The tyres rub on the springs on full lock but just try not to turn that sharply ! haha

I guess you are in West Oz, ,me too, im still tryin to work out loading a pic of the new wheels and tyres.

Now just gotta sort our the steering , she's a bit 'floatee' replaced the ball joints and track rod but hasn't made much difference, new box time I think, and of course the bigger tyres havnt helped matters.

Not that much extra noise from the muddies, but had em on my patrol and didn't mind on that either.

Hi BluBronco351, A quick one on the rubbing on the springs. What offset or back spacing are your rims? are they a -12 like mine???? I have replaced all my ball joints to moog greasable items and will be doing a worn tie-rod when I get to do all my other work. I have also ordered a steering ram to help move those meats around cause stock sucks!!!!! I too have been looking at the MT muddies but I have also been looking at their 375/55/16 which is the 36/15.5/r16 but sounds like that is a no-go. Just seen the in your album. they look the goods!!! Ohh nice colour choice on the truck too!! hahaha
How much where they a wheel and would you recommend the tyre shop? Cause that is my next stop.

Thinking outside the square for tyres.

This is what I'm running on my Mav and will be putting on Effii

Wrangler MT/R Kevlar

I'm on my second set on the mav the first did 50K kms and still have about 10K kms use. Only changed them before last trip away as I did not want to have to try and source 5 tyres in the middle of nowhere and we would be doing at least 10K while away.

Originally I had intended on BFG's but the tyre place that I ordered them from stuffed up and ordered 31's instead of 33's and had the 33x12.5R15 MT/R's on the floor. So I agreed to try them on the basis if I was not happy could return them within 1000km. Never took them back obviously and now on a second set.

I've found them good in all terrains, mud and rocks on the Burrup, sand on the SA south east coast, high speed dirt in the Pilbara, better than Mud Terrains on the bitumen.

No noisier than anything else I've used.

I've had them down to 10psi in the sand with no issues.

One of the motorbike tour operators here has them on his support patrol and has run them as low as 5psi without beadlocks and no issues, trying to keep up with the bikes across the Simpson.

They certainly get plenty of attention when parked as well with the unusual tred pattern.

Also not had a single puncture yet (touch wood) with these.

Just my .02c

Have you got a steering dampener?

We had similar issues when first going to the 33's on Effii, all steering components were new at the time and still wanted to float/wander on the road. Fitted a steering dampener and problem solved.

Hi WA F250, I think my rims were 0 offset or what ever is standard on em, which is probly why there is slight rubbing, but could probly check with the guys at the tyre shop which by the way was tyreright in Armadale , great bloke there, Kevin and his off sider, they ordered the rims from the east (Adelaide had 4x if I remember correctly) they were @$300 each) (if you find a wheel you like he can get em - I had some ideas before I went in) but he showed me some catalogues as well, ATX, M/T, etc) .

We'l see how the muddies wear on the big truk, they were pretty good on my lighter patrol. but time will tell here, fuel economy (hahha) has taken a noticeable dive however! but didn't buy her for the fuel economy, guess none of us do!

And hi 4x4Falcon, ive only got a little Rancho dampener on it at the mo, was wondering about a bigger one, or maybe a couple of bigger ones, I know a few guys say stay away from the return to centre types buy im wondering if that may be the best option here?

The steering has always been vague and wonders (since ive had her) even with the smaller stock wheels and tyres so will try see if there is anything up with other components before I maybe (cover it up) with a dampener, but I think its on the cards)

Ahhhh its only money $$haha$$

I've got a Rancho on Effii and a RTC on the Mav.

Really no difference between the two, just no jarring steering wheel.

How are the spring bushes as they can cause wandering too.
