Started up, then died.
So tonight I went to start my truck. It started just like it always does then ran for about 2 seconds then died. It was like someone turned the key off.
Never could get it to start again. Cranked for 10-15 seconds, then would let it rest. Tried this a couple times. Noticed that it was starting to take a toll on the batteries so I gave it up for the night.
Truck has fuel, Fuel pump (electronic) working great, Never had this happen before.
Any ideas on where to start trouble shooting?
Thanks

Well above freezing when I attempted to start it. Probably about 40-45 I'd say. Night have been dipping down into the low 20s, high teens.
check that the FSS (fuel solenoid) on the ip has a good connection, and power when key is on, is the gp controller working?. is the WTS lite staying on six seconds, or just a short blink? if just a short blink controller may have failed, you may be able to start the engine by turning key on then off every 4 seconds 3 or 4 times, then crank,( this is one fail, work around,) of the gp controller, when parked warm the fuel in the system shrinks when it cools, and may (pull back) from the injectors, making some people complain that they have air intrusion, remember the fuel travels down hill to the ip. air won't move down hill at the flow rate in the fuel line when fuel is present, and the fss is closed, so air can't come from injector side of the system, you have a fuel problem, FSS or gp problem. plug it in for 3 hrs and try it.

Truck started fine last night. Took maybe 2-3 seconds and then fired right up, even with the weak batteries from the previous night.

Truck has manual glow plugs which are working (dash voltmeter thinks so anyway).
I did notice some brown film collecting in the bottom of my duralift fuel pump (clear plastic). What is that all about? I've also noticed the same stuff in the fuel fileter when I've removed it. Brown, thin film, almost looks like fruit leather but really thin.
