'01 Ex not starting right,, need help
I have a 2001 Excursion 5.4 with 123,000 miles.
First, I do not keep a lot of fuel in this truck as it is not a daily driver but often a backup and weekend vehicle for the family.
It gets driven generally weekly sometimes maybe every two weeks. It is not fuel line freeze up and I have used the water remover, plus I have fresh fuel since the first issue.
In the last few weeks it has been really hard to start. The truck will turn over and turn over, and turn over but it will not start. Eventually after a lot (I mean a lot) of attempts to start ~ it will start. I have a short "rumble" under the drivers floorboard every now and again like something is try trying to exhaust or relieve air. ?? dont know what that may be or if its related to this issue.
Once I get it running it runs great, I can drive around town and it will re-start right up without issue during the in-town driving.
It seems as though the fuel rail is allowing all the fuel in the lines to drain back into the gas tank then it takes (almost) forever to get the fuel back up to the engine. just a WAG! on my part.
Any help is very much appreciated!
Thanks
Robb
