Oil At The Tailpipe?

I was washing my truck a couple of days ago and when I was rinsing out my tip I noticed there was what seemed to be oil mixed in with the normal black soot when it hit the ground. What would cause this? My MPG is also terrible right now and the truck runs like it has a mid range miss. It will buck and kick ever so slightly when I am barely on the pedal while cruising 30-35 mph. I have AE but really don't know what to look at to pinpoint this. There is a feeling in my gut that the cheap Oreilleys injector orings I replaced on #4 are already shot. Truck is at 332k on original sticks. All mods are in my sig. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

From what I have read, you can pull the turbo and have a look at the up pipes to see what side the oil is coming from. Once you know what side, pull the valve cover for that side and check the inj o-rings and the injector clamp bolt.

Could also be the turbo shaft bearing thats going bad. If so you can get a rebuild kit from Clay.

That doesn't seem too bad. If I'm going to pull the turbo, I will go ahead and order some pedestal orings. I wouldn't be surprised if my turbo bearings were bad. It takes forever to get up to 15-20lbs of boost and screams like crazy. No obvious shaft play though. There seems to be way more oil in the Intercooler pipes than normal.

Rob I'll bet you are right ! I see that happening more times then not when it comes to oil out the old tail pipe. So pulling the down pipe will give you a better idea but depending on the miles on the turbo I would just rebuild the turbo and go from there. Besides better a turbo seal go before a bearing. Actually it could be the bearing on the turbine side is wore helping cause the seal to leak. If that is the case I would rebuild it before it wipes out your turbo.

Thanks for the info guys! I have never taken the turbo off myself since discovering this awesome forum! Just started working on this truck myself last year. Would this be a good time to delete the EBPV? Any tips or info is greatly appreciated.

If you're going to delete the EBPV, here what I did. I'm sure it would be cheaper to gut and plug your current pedestal and outlet housing but alot more work and I didn't have access to a welder. I ordered these two items from Riff Raff and it was an easy job. It was definitely worth the time and money, my engine valley is clean now that oil is not puking from the EBPV!

All depends where you live. If its cold where you live then I wouldnt delete it because it helps in warming up the engine. If it dont get that cold then you can delete it. It also acts as a engine brake when towing with the right tune on a tuner. If its leaking you can rebuild that also. I deleted my ebpv because I live in Florida but my pedestal is the same. I will probably replace mine the next time I pull my turbo.
