I had concerns as anyone should when doing any type of modification to a 40K dollar truck. But all I can say is wow. Best thing I ever did for this truck by far. The power is pretty much way over the top. Turned off traction control during tune, will be putting it back. Way to much power for no traction control. As far as mileage I haven't had it long enough to hand calculate but the lie-o-meter and my gas gauge tell a pretty good story so far. Absolutely love it.
What kit did you use? And which fooler? Did you have any trouble installing and are you glad you bought the products you used? In case you couldn't tell, I am planning to do mine as well
I used the SCT tuner, yeah I know its the cheaper one of the bunch but it did everything I needed. PM for pipe information. Install is easy, just spray bolts and hangers a day or two ahead with WD-40 or something like it.
Keep us updated on driveability and mileage. I'm seriously considering same mod's on my 2008 with 41K miles on it. No problems with the truck just want better mileage and stop with the regen cycles and white smoke.
So far everything is great. Im getting 13-15 in town and 19-21 highway. Both much better then before. Have to stay off the pedal because it sure wants to run now. It will spin the tires whenever you want which isn't a good with the cost of tires. Love not having the regen. Hardest part of install was unbolting from the down pipe. One of the bolts is really hard to reach and even when you do its a quarter turn at a time. Just takes a while.
I just put a Sparten in my 6.4L feed truck with dpf delete pipe Tuesday. I can't say enough, should have done it a few years ago. Totally different truck and well worth the money.
+1 for just want the regen's and white smoke to STOP!
I'm planning and saving up to do the whole package -Tuner w/dash mount, CAT/DPF delete, EGR delete, full exhaust, and intake all at once. Pretty much set on H&S mini maxx, can't wait cause I sure love my truck but HATE the things that these will eliminate.
You guys that have done it sure get a guy excited about the results.
Should do a group buy from a vendor that has a package with all these items all bundled together, eh? Anyone interested in getting together to see if we can save a few bucks by getting together???
200hp+ isn't really crazy if you take care of the truck... it's a double edged sword.. the more aggressive the tune...the better the mpg's...so if mpg's are your main concern your kind of stuck.. I have the h&s mini maxx 250hp setting running now full exhaust and aFe stage 2 intake...I get between 13-15 on 37's mixed driving which im happy with... the problem with higher hp tunes.. is not racing from light to light...which is hard for a lot of people
I baby mine most of the time.. but occasionally I'm guilty of leaving a ricer or mustang in the rear view. There nothing like making an aggressive ricer dissapear in a haze of clouded smoke!
I agree.. It's just the guys who dog there truck out...then get on here saying it's the worse truck/motor ever when it breaks down...are kind of ridiculous. I love my 6.4 ..it's fun to get on it.. but you said mpg's we're what you wanted.. so it's hard 2 do both...there's a fine line.. I like beating up on dmax's and dodges...since there so cocky!
