My 04 F-250 has a Tuff Country leveling spring pack installed form the previous owner. It rides like a tank, I also have factory shocks with 150k on them. My question is will replacing just the shocks smooth out the ride, if so which would you recommend. I'm looking at the Pro- comp leveling springs also just don't want to spend extra money if I don't need to. So I geuss I'm looking for the best bang for the buck. Do I have have to do both or will just one option make a difference. Thanks guys
The spring packs are pretty stiff. You will likely be fit from new shocks, but the spring pack is hard to get around, it's likely a front level kit, and personal experience with pro comp is pretty stiff too. I would try the new shocks first, then decide on the spring pack.
Yes it is a leveling kit, The pro- comp springs I'm seeing are a total replacement. Right now I have 7 or 9 leaves so the pro comps will be like a stock spring with a bigger arch. I've heard they ride smoother than stock, I just havnt ridden in a stock truck to compare to mine
I only have experience with a front level on my old SD F350. It was definitely stiff riding but actually better than the original which I felt to soft. I like the pro comp stuff and it's accessible up here, big fan of the shocks too. The front springs won't be that many leafs,p like the back, I think as a level or small 2.5 lift, but for sure if you are matching the rear and it is lifted, more leafs and bigger arch required. I would tend to go springs and shocks with that age of shocks, getting the right ones will be a bit tricky....
