Hi there I am new to this group, but have owned several ford trucks. I now have a 99 EB Expedition. I wonder if any of you have had problems with your side mirrors. Mine have the turn signals in them. They seem as if they are loosing their mirror surface. You can't see out of them at all. It does not seem as if there is a film on them, they just seem to be loosing their shine. Can i replace just the mirror part, or do I have to replace the whole assembly?
sorry travis but i have the same problem and you cant get just the glass youu have to get the whole interior assembly they run about 150 dollars.. you can try to remove the glass and have them tinted with a tint called mira film.. every time i have tried i break the glass wich sends me back to the junk yard at least they only charge 60 dollars.. good luck
Hey guys... The mirrors on my Expy were the same way. Mine were manufactured by Meuth mirror company. I don't know if they made the 99 mirrors also but it wouldn't hurt to try. I called them and explained to them what they looked like and what they were doing. The lady I spoke with on the phone sent out a replacement set immediately. The only thing she asked is that I destroy the original glass. The new mirrors were a snap to install and they came with detailed instructions. If you look back through the archives in this forum, you can probably find the phone # here. You might even be able to find a web site for them. They were great people to deal with. They told me that they had a defective batch of mirror glass go out and they were replacing it under a warranty issue through them!
Glad I could help out! Sorry about the spelling, it's been almost a year since I had to do this. There should be a 1-800 number also. It might be easier to just give them a call if you don't get anywhere with the E-mails.
kwmuth.com I think that is the website. I just did a google on muth mirrors, and went to the site. I have not heard back as of Sat. afternoon, but I did not eMail them till late on thurs, and I called them late on Fri. I am hoping that it is just the weekend thing, and I will hear from them on monday. I will keep ya posted. I work 12 hour shifts from 7pm-7am, so it is hard for me to get a hold of people during the day somethimes, You know trying to do the sleep thing and all.
They're a good outfit, they replaced mine(on my 98) quickly and at no charge. If some thief steals the galss out of your mirrors and takes the little mounting tabs you no longer have to buy the complete housing from Ford for $300+,they can put you in touch with a warehouse that sells the tabs, then you can put in a new glass replacement for around $100 instead. They stole mine twice,I know.
This is to update everyone on my mirror issues. I go in touch with muth mirrors. They would not cover my mirrors since the truck was out of warranty. They did sell me a new mirror glass kit for only 159.00. It listed for 230$, and I don't even want to tell you what new mirrors from ford go for. They were very nice and helpful. I got the mirrors in 3 days, and put them in tonight. They were pretty simple to put in, just a little tedious (sp?) to line everything up. So far the signals and the power motors seem to be working right, will let you all know how they hold up.
I have a 2000 Exp. EB that has cracked glass in the passenger side mirror. The signal is not in the glass, but it on the edge of the mirror shroud. The mirror IS heated though. The dealership is saying it will cost $200 to replace the whole unit, but I've got to believe there's a way to replace just the glass. Muth appears to only make the ones with the signal in the glass. Does anyone know who makes the ones for my truck ?
I contacted them by email and they responded within 24 hours by phone and email. My 1999 Expy is out of warranty, but they agreed to provide a replacement at discounted price. Unheated signal mirror for $79 or heated signal mirror for $94; plus $10 UPS.
Considering what Ford gets I thought that sounded very fair.

Do your new Muth Mirrors fit correctly? I found some Muth Mirrors locally but the cut out where the LED are is totally different from my Stock 97 EB mirrors. The ones on the 97 EB are hidden, and the Muth glass a cut out can be seen.
