I noticed two of the plastic ears were missing on my rear center cap on my 250 last tire rotation, well today I saw it roll off going down the highway and disintegrate against a front bumper. Are there any other options for OEM caps? Like interchangeable ones with different years? I really like the 07/08 SD caps, but I doubt they would fit. I was just curious because the cheapest one I found was around 84$ on ebay for just a single cap, I'm guessing the other one is on borrowed time, but I doubt there are any OEM ones out there that will last 17-18 years ... I really don't want to pay that and almost considered getting a set of polished aluminum ones from summit for that cost, but I really do like the OEM look.
Just wanted to see what your guys thoughts were on them for the factory alcoas...
You can get a full set on ebay for about $100. And they will be ebay quality. I bought a set and will soon put my factory ones safely on the garage shelf. Most won't miss the Ford logo on the full floating sized rears and the way the front rings attach to the lug nuts rather than the rims. But when I lose a factory one I won't be so mad.
Newer year caps won't fit. The rears aren't deep enough. I tried. The ones that fit directly over the lugs, the lug spacing is different.
The eBay ones should be about $40 a pair, IIRC, but they suck. They sorta kinda interference fit onto the lug studs, but they don't stay on worth cr@p. We had a pair on our generic Alcoas that DON'T have the cut-outs for the Ford cap tabs; lost both in short order. Ended up getting push-throughs, and capped chrome lug nuts.
You just have to be careful putting the Ford caps on. A light thump with a rubber mallet to install them, and a gentle pry with a big screwdriver or small pry bar to remove them. And DON'T trust the tire jockeys with them; whenever we get tires rotated, we remove the caps ourselves before we go, and re-install them ourselves.

I agree with you there. I figure it was just time that finally cracked the plastic tabs for good. Truck has been through quite a few hard years. It actually has been making a slight clicking tone when driving slow from the cap slumping back and forth while the tire rotates for the last few years. I always though it was the lockouts on the front, till i lifted heach wheel and spun them and found out it was the rear, thought there was a rock in there at first....nope. My click disappeared right after the cap went missing. Good to know on the ebay caps though...might have to bite the bullet and just get a new one but its hard to stomach the cost of a new one considering its half as much as I paid for a set of used Classic III MT wheels. The alcoas are by far my favorite OEM wheels to date on a truck, but I do like the bullet hole MTs fore, and for 90$ I can get 4 center caps :-)
Oh well

Problem is its not what would I pay, its what I'm going to pay... $90 for one plastic chrome covered cap is effing stupid in my book, but that is just me. I don't even know if thats a FORD OEM cap considering its from flea bay. I'd see $30 being reasonable per cap. Hell ford makes all their plastic components in Mexico now, or at least the majority of them, I bet there is less than a dollar of materials into one of those caps....
