Hey all. I need a little help. With the cold weather today, a trim piece must have gotten brittle and broken off of my 09 F-150 XLT SuperCrew. It happened when I opened my front passenger side door. The crack is because I didn't see it before closing the door on it.
The problem is, I can't for the life of me figure out where it should go. A search for the part number (8L34-1520520-AA) comes up with no results. Anyone have any idea where this might go?
Have you recently had the truck in for any repair/maintenance? I found another thread on another forum where someone posted a similar occurrence to yours about 2 years ago. That user's truck had just been in for a leak and he believes it came from above the headliner.
Thanks for the reply. I found that thread too. Honestly, it was the ONLY other thing I found when I Googled the part number. I haven't had any service done recently.
Between its shape and the transition from hard plastic to rubber on one edge I'm thinking it's from around the window somewhere, but I can't find it. I'll have to look more once things warm up a bit. The high was 0 Fahrenheit around here so it was a bit cold to be sitting in the driveway looking for a broken piece of trim.
According to a buddy that is a Ford parts guy, it is a weather strip, for the right front door, inside the cab, for the outside mirror...
So if were me, I'd check out the drivers door panel, and see what looks different/missing on that right front door panel.
Unk Bob
Thanks! Yeah, I got in touch with a parts guy as well. The part number is actually 8L3Z1520520A (not what's on the part). And it's just as you said. It's a small piece of weatherstripping on the inside of the front door above the hinge. It's held on with double sided tape. Thinking the sub-zero temps around here weakened the adhesive. Thanks for the help!
