My batteries have been going south and today they gave up the ghost. I went and bought a couple of the Autocraft Gold tops from Advance Auto (my wife carried me). Went to put em on the truck and all my cables are too short. My old batteries hooked up the same way but the posts were set towards the inside of the vehicle and these sit towards the outside, Im saying like 3-4" is about what I would need for the cables to fit and not be stretched tight. Are our cables attached in some way by keepers like zip ties or plastic plugs that can be undone to allow them to be stretched longer or am I looking at having to get 2 new sets of cables to attach to the new batteries?
Yeah, wrong batts. Just cause they fit in the hole, does not mean they "fit" as you found out.
Take them back, describe problem ( show them pics). If they can't help you, get your money back and go elsewhere. You should be able to easily get the right batteries without changing anything.
hmm I picked up a pair of Duralast Golds from NAPA and they were a perfect fit. Those look too squarish? I'd say the right ones are more rectangular in shape.
Good call!!! Checked the sticker and its 35 series. I ordered them online and did the store pickup. Didnt look at em, just grabbed em and ran. Lesson learned. Receipt is right though. Now just to make the 30 mile drive again to swap em out.

Sorry I was kidding with u but the guys are right. We use a group 65 battery or marine battery. But the gold tops from autozone are pretty good too.
