Hi my name is Steve and I am new to this site. I am currently having trouble with my F150 and am in the process of replacing the engine computer after chasing the problem of intermittent engine misfire for more than 12 months. All new coils and plugs sealed with electrical grease made no difference, diagnostics said low fuel pressure so pump was tested and replaced, no difference. the temperature of the day seems to make no difference, most of the time the ute has been used for an hour or so before the problem shows its head, but not always.
All suggestions welcome, hard to find a mechanic familiar with the F150 here in Australia.
The one in my vehicle is F75F-12A650-AAD ECP3.
Question one, is it possible to program a replacement unit before it is installed in the vehicle?
Question 2, is there a later model replacement?
Sorry of course, 97 5.4 ltr V8 auto transmission extra cab lariat.
I removed the ecm to get numbers and found condensation on the backing around the connection pins, have dried the unit and refitted, will take the truck for a run today and see if there is any difference. Takes about 2 hours each way to get to the destination so it will give the ute a good try out.
