Well, my truck is going in for the up-pipes to be replaced later this week. I would do it myself like anything else, but I just don't have the time with the semester starting and getting ready to go to Texas next week. I can't wait to get rid of the exhaust smell coming in the cab and the soot on the firewall. I don't plan on doing bellowed because my truck will stay stock for the most part. I have heard they make some newer version that gets rid of the donut gasket.
So, what say you guys? What's my best course of action since I am keeping this truck for longevity? Do I have options other than stock that won't break the bank? I don't mind spending a few extra $$ if it performs better and will last for 10+ years.
Do a bellowed set up.that's the only permanent solution.no performance gain other than no leaks for a very very long time.
the stock system is not worth spending any cash on.
Well, I guess this answers my question. Best place to get them? Irate it sounds like but I keep seeing that they take quite awhile. I need this dome by the 16th before my Texas trip. Riff Raff maybe? I guess I could call like a normal person rather than keep bugging you guys..LOL
Of course, after doing some research I found out that this issue is sort of a "dead horse" issue. Sorry guys. I am almost willing to spend the coin for the good pipes from Riff Raff after reading a lot of horror stories trying to get them form Jake. I contacted him and am going to give him the benefit of the doubt, so we'll see.
I was serious on the last sentence. There is another outfit that sells them for jake and he is cheaper. He also sells another brand too! I went thru my favorites and couldn't find it.
I have seen a few other diesel sites (xtreme, whites, and somn other) that have them.I am just not sure if they are any good or not. I am waiting for some input from anyone else to see if they are not worth it. I may just have to go with Riff Raff. I don't want to spend that much, but I also want to be good for the life of the truck.
I am leaning towards the Summit Racing ones, but the Dormans, believe it or not, got good reviews....even by diesel mechanics! Hmmmm, just not sure yet.
Thanks Glenn!! I'll give them a call tomorrow. I am hoping my mileage will go back to where it was. Mine are leaking bad!! I just cleaned so much soot off the firewall just to keep the smell down in the cab a little bit. I have also noticed a bit of a power loss. We'll see. Gauges will be next after this if all goes well.
