don't forget there are some people still working these trucks,so keeping oil temps which also translates to lower water temps in check while hauling/towing heavy is vital to engine longevity and and in many cases would be a downgrade to remove oil coolers.

Yeah, I thought so too, which is why I had a glimmer of hope that it may be the part. Maybe there's just a part number mismatch. I'm going to check at some dealers and see if I can get a look at it.

Of course, but it's such a poor and one off design that clearly never had any refinement or time to evolve that it'd be better to find a different cooling solution before the inevitable failure of this design.

I would like to keep a cooler also but not for 1200 bucks. I read somewhere that the coolers were put on there to help with emissions or some crap.
