2002 Engine Light

Hello can someone give me some insight.MY engine light comes on when get on power ie;passing gear or towing trailer light stays on for a short time 5 to 10 minutes. If truck is shut off light does not come back on till you power up again. If you ease into it chances are light does not come on. Local Ford dealer has checked HPOP that test fine they clean the socks in the fuel tank. Now the dealer says it maybe a weak injector. Can anyone shed some Light. Yeah I know HAHA. Thanks RC

Did they bother to give u the code that it gives? That is the only real way to know what is happening. Sometimes a tuner can cause what u describe as well. Do u have one? How many miles on the truck?

Welcome to FTE! 320,000 miles! That's great! Is it still running the factory original injectors?

The codes will tell us a lot. If you got an invoice, it may be on there.

I will ask for codes tomorrow. When they did the first diag. it pointed to the fuel system that's when they replaced the socks in the fuel tank. Tech is having a hard time pinpointing problem. This is the second time in 1 week the truck has been in the shop. Whatever the problem it does not effect the driveabllity.

Okay here we go. They performed KOEO and KOER DTC P1211. ICP and IPR and harness tested ok. ICP Pressure not at desired IPR maxed out at 64%

P1211 ICP Not Controllable - Pressure Abow/Below Desired

Is it still running the original injectors?

Have the injector o-rings been replaced at some point in time?

The reason for these questions is that with the mileage you have, you are beyond the life most people get on their factory original injectors.

How old is the oil?

What oil are you using?

All are original but 2 where replaced about 5 years ago and other work was done at the time but I'm having brain fade and can't remember what exactly was done. I have owned the truck since day one. I run either Delo 400 or Valvoline Prem.Blue. and in between oil changes i drop and replace the oil filter depending on how and where I'm driving

A reman is definitely possible. But you may get a lot more miles out of it. Have you noticed any oil in the fuel? Pull the fuel filter and look to see any discoloration. Any blowby?

My guess is a leaky or sticking IPR with the P1211. Rebuilding the IPR is pretty easy and would account for an undesired ICP.

Low fuel pressure can cause the 1211 code. Did you re-check it under load? If it's still low you probably have clogged screens in the fuel tank or an issue with the fuel pressure regulator.
