Anybody ever turbo a 351?

I don't want that much power in my truck. I'm just thinking about maybe somewhere around 400-450 range if even that much. I won't be racing it, I just want a noticeable difference from how it was before it was parked. The truck wouldn't even do 70 if you pushed it down a cliff. And the mileage was horrible before (4mpg on a good day), so I can't imagine it being any worse after a rebuild and upgrade.

It would probably easier to put a centrifugal supercharger on it than turboing it. Either way, you're going to have to do some extensive fuel system upgrades and get a good dyno tune. That or run a Mustang A9L because the MAF Mustang computers are pretty good with dealing with all kinds of upgrades. Also your trans is going to have to be upgraded, in stock shape it'll last for a while but it won't hold up as long as you'll want it to. Take whatever budget you have in mind, and throw it out the window. Lol

Yeah. I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra that I got when my mom passed away about 4 months ago, so im not really in a huge hurry to get this truck on the road. Its just something im going to basically throw all of my extra (and most likely some that isnt extra) at so I can have a nicely built truck in the end. I dont plan to keep the stock c6 anyways. Im wanting to convert it to 4wd and standard.

This is shaping up to be a great project! One word of advice, do a little at a time. Don't strip the whole thing down and go crazy. Do the engine stuff and then drive it a little while, once you're satisfied you have that part done and reliable, move on to the next step. It'll make it to where you won't get too overwhelmed by ALL the stuff that needs to get done.
