Carl, the 2-tone wasn't available for the XLT. I added the Lund fender flares and had a friend who does restoration work paint them and add the lower accent color. He used the correct Ford paint code and went down to the local Ford dealer to measure the correct dimensions so it would look factory.
Between the cost of the flares and the paint work, it ran about $1K, but I have exactly the look I wanted without having to buy extra options to get it.

Service guy is wrong, you can do this upgrade. I'm planning on doing this upgrade myself; others have done it. Search powerstroke nation forum. I'd almost guarantee the wiring plugs are the same; however you can bet programming is required. I've done quite a bit of retrofitting; so far the trickiest is getting my new leather steering wheel with nav audio controls programmed...no luck yet, but I'll keep trying. Reprogramming the SCCM didn't work; possibly need the BCM reprogrammed as well. You need the VIN of a truck with the option you want. Be wary, though, of cluster changes done at the dealer. It'll show up as odometer replacement in a carfax down the road.
I got my 2012 used and it had every option that I wanted except two: This instrument package and the 20" wheels (neither available on the XLT).
I would love to swap in the message center!! Does anyone have screen shots of all the available information? I think this would help determine if additional sensors would be needed. In reality, I would think that anything that can be read from the scanner plug-in from an aftermarket scanner should be available - w/o additional sensors.
I am going to check on the powerstroke nation site and do some digging over there. The reprogramming will likely be about $90-$100.
