I talked to someone this morning at Bully Dog that said that the Triple Dog E3 Diesel will not recalibrate my truck. RealTruck.com got involved and got me in touch with an engineer that said that they have an update in the works that will allow it to work with my 03 F250 6.0L and that it should be out by the end of next week.
It took a bit, but Bully Dog gave me an RMA which was required for RealTruck.com to take the programmer back, and after they all verified that it had been returned to stock, I got a credit at RealTruck.com. For the same price I got the HyperTech Max Energy programmer and it had no problem programming the truck for the new tire sizes. The premature shifts are gone, the vibration from the transmission is gone, and the speedometer is reading the correct speed.
So, why modify the wiring of your truck with something like the TruSpeed when you can do it electronically with a programmer?
I like the Scan Gauge II, ScanGaugeII - Trip Computers + Digital Gauges + Scan Tool . It's only about $150, has other read-outs that I use while driving, one of which is an adjustable speedo, will reset codes and simply plugs into the reader port below the dashboard. The Scan Gauge II's MPG is accurate also, unlike Ford's. I've verified it a number of times before I trusted it.
As an aside, I went from 265/70-17 to 315/70-17 tires. The actual v. odometer correction was 1.089***, 1.09 for quick calcs. If your speedometer was correct beforehand, mine wasn't, you can get your speed by multiplying. I don't know what the effect is on the tranny though.
Hope this helps.
