Just a heads up to anyone putting larger than stock tires on a 2014 super duty... It will throw off your navigation, speedometer, odometer, and who knows what else ford has integrated into the computer system based on wheel rotation. I put 295/70/18 on mine and noticed that the location icon on the navigation was off. Sometimes by as much as a quarter mile. Sometimes wandering off aimlessly and then tracking on a nearby road. Called Ford customer care who said to take it to the dealer for a tire recalibration and all should be well. Made the apt. and took it in but the dealership says that prior to 2014 model year this would have worked but with the new 2014 model the only choices to recalibrate to are the four stock tire size choices. So if you go to larger tires other than the stock choices your outa luck for a recalibration from Ford. So far I haven't found any aftermarket solutions either. Anyone have any thoughts on a workaround? How about what else may be being effected in the computer due to tire rotation? Is the computer getting the wheel rotation information from the tpms sensors or some other sensor?
I went from 265/17 to 285/18" rim. Noticed about a 5-6% difference in speedometer. My new rims are 9.5 wide so there is more tire on the ground; but I don't think there is more than a tenth of a difference in gas mileage--although it takes more math to figure it out.
