I don't really think this would be possible, but who knows, that's why I am asking.
I like how the front of my truck looks, but I prefer the 80-86,92-96 fronts. I was wondering is it possible to basically take the front off of mine and swap it with the front of another?
yes the 92-96 fits. there is a place up here that does them. www.jobriteauto.com i believe. they have some pics of them too. i am not sure about the older ones.
hope that helps.
i like the 91 front end though.
This can be done. If you try the website www.jobriteauto.com a guy took the 91 style front clip and swapped it with a 96 style. The 87-96 trucks had a different style bed so if you go with a 80-86 style front clip it wont look quite the same.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 07-Jun-02 AT 07:29 PM (EST)]I can't really seem to find what it would be under, what should I look under to find it?
Just to make sure ya'll know what I am talking about and not thinking about somethign else, I just wanna get rid of the blocky front where the grille is on the front, nothing else.
While I think it might work physically, the curve of the front on a 92 - 96 means that the hood, bumper, and I think even the fenders are curved differently. I've been toying with the idea of changing just the bumper ( I like the one with the holes in it). It may require changing everything forward of the cab to get it to look the way you want. Then again, the grill sticking out past the hood might be interesting.
Ohh I guess we were typing the same message at the same time.. Ohh well. Yes you will need to swap the fenders, hood, valance, grill, bumper, and possibly the inner fender wells.
The valence is the little peice of metal under the grille and above the bumper. I'm pretty sure that the radiator supports are the same though. I bought a newer (92-96) radiatore support for my 87, but didn't install it yet. I did measure a lot at the junk yard though, and they seem to be the same.
