I agree completely with this opinion. No way I'd get a '14 this close to the 15's coming out with applied knowledge from prior version to improve it.

Thanks for the responses guys. Leaning towards waiting on the 15 cause if I go with the 14 I will be wanting to trade for the 15 when it comes out.

I would advise that you go with what you know. We know that the F-450 will have some additional towing capability. I have a 2014 F-350 dually 14k GVWR which has the same capabilities as the 450. Unless you're using this truck for commercial purposes it's unlikely that you'll need to haul 30k.

I think we are assuming that the srw trucks will have the same fuel system and turbo enhancements. If so it would make a 250 crazy fun to drive. I would speculate that with a dually you probably wouldn't feel the HP increase of the 15. So with that if you need a truck get the 14. If you want the truck but can wait then wait.

If Ford could sell the 15 package as an upgrade to existing 6.7l owners the service doors would be filled.

isn't just the f450 getting the upgrade at first?? So anything lower with the gen 2 may be a longer wait

Whatever you do, wait for the 2015's to come out before making a decision, for 2 reasons.

1. You can test drive it, and see if the changes they have done are something you want to splurge the extra cash on.
2. If you decide not to go for a 2015, with 2015's already on lots, you should get a much better deal on 2014's that are still around.

In terms of not getting something the first year it comes out, I get the sentiment, but its a crapshoot. I would certainly much rather have a 2011 6.7, than a 2010 6.4 for reliability reasons as well as every other reason (perhaps except if I was tuning it to the hilt, but still...). In addition, the changes they have planned (fuel pump, injectors and turbo) are significantly small that I would look at it no different to a 2014 anyway.

I bought a RAM for 2013 and probably would again for 2014. However, the 2015 improvements such as an actual exhaust brake could have made the difference in me picking an hd truck. If I were in your shoes, I'd do add others suggest and wait until the 2015 trucks hit. Then you can see if the extra coin is worth it or find another straggler 2014 which should be even cheaper then. It's only 4 months.

Seems like the exhaust brake will be worth the price of admission for the '15s. I'd wait for it. The other improvements appear like an evolutionary bump of an already solid platform so the first gen bugs wouldn't concern me much. (Compared to buying an '11 when they first came out, that is)

What fuel system changes are being made to the 2015? And is this confirmed 100%?

In the initial press release, Ford stated that there is a new fuel pump and new injectors for the 2015. They haven't released any further details than that.

I would wait for the 15. There are no huge changes they're doing, its not a brand new from the ground up truck. The only major problem my first year 2011 truck had was a failed TCM which was fixed under warranty.

2014 or 2015

I was almost ready to buy a 2014 f250KR, but after speaking to the service area and learning of the exhaust sensor I backed off. I then even drove a Duramax, but thinking of my history of problems with GM products I decided that wasn't the answer. I think they probably both make a good product, but feel that the dealer service area is critical. I know from reading others posts the 2014 or 2015 issue is a split one. Is there any rating of dealers service departments that could help influence where a customer buys his vehicle?

I have a 2003 6.0L and even though I have had few issues it still was a disappointment from my 96 Dodge Diesel, and don't want another pain in the neck.
