Bad connection in steering column

Hey guys, I just got a 1989 F-150 xlt lariat 302 and I have a question. My truck once running, will die if you turn the steering wheel or shut the door or hit a bump. Not only the engine shuts off, but all accessories too. Basically my key can't keep a connection in the "run" position. I've already replaced the actual lock cylinder cause the old one was sloppy and wore out. Didn't fix the problem. If I hold my key with slight pressure the truck won't die at all. Any help would be much appreciated, it's a pain in the *** to drive a 5-speed while holding the key on. Haha.

I would remove the plastic cowling around the steering column, 2 screws accessible from the bottom side, and investigate. The actual electric part of the ignition switch is a few inches forward of the key tumbler. It sounds like either the ignition switch or the linkage between the the key tumbler and the switch.
