My Dash bezel has broken clips. Tired of hearing that thing rattle. It's been a while since I looked at the back of it. Can those clips be replaced, or do I need to order a new bezel? Any other idea's to secure it?
I looked at eBay and see a few that are marked gasoline only, and some that say both diesel and gas. I want to make sure all my "wait to start" lights work etc. Anyone have one for sale from a part truck? I also noticed that it's a 4x2 model so I'm guessing the 4x4 light won't be there?
my buddies was broke on his 97 250, and what we did was take it off, take out the metal clips that broke off out of the dash. there is a tab on the metal clips that holds the two sides of the clip together, you either bend that tab or cut it off, then you can open the metal clips up, then you get some small self tappers, and put them through the metal clip, then screw those back into the bezel where the clips were previously held in by the plastic. then if you just bent the tab, you can redo that so the clips will be held together or you can just bend em back together far enough so they will fit in the dash holes.

I have done the same thing on several trucks, works Perfect
I cheated. The rattle was making me crazy too, so I "spot welded" it in a few places with super glue gel. The "welds" break when you need to go back after the dash to oh maybe replace the bulbs you thought about replacing while you had it all apart but decided that the trip to the store for more bulbs was too much work. (Hint, spend the few $$ and put all new bulbs in while it's removed!)
No pics but On the back of the cluster, there are "pins" the stock out along the top edge. On those pins metal "tangs" slide on to them. When you push the bezel into place the tangs snap into holes in the dash The problem is the plastic pins, brake off All you do is attach the metal tang with screws
Except when the entire plastic breaks and there is no longer a place to put a screw or even a fender washer. I even used a ubolt plate for a little while to grab what little plastic was left, but that gave way this past week. Time for a new one!
Thanks for the suggestions on this. I will pull it off this weekend and see what I can do. I can't remember if everything broke right off or not, but I'd like to start cleaning her up little by little.
