Upgrades

Looks like its time to pull the trigger on new injectors but what way to go? All this started because my truck would not start when it was cold out unless it was plugged in for an hour or so. After doing lots of reading on hear I learned a TON of things so I tested the glow plugs and all but one ohmed bad, since I figured I would be under the vc I decided I would change the gp's, gp harness, and injectors. The truck is a 2000 F250 4X2 6 speed manual that just rolled 201K miles. After talking it over with the wife I decided to go all in, just ordered a CFM intake, CAC boots, GTP38R turbo, sinister diesel coolant filtration, ccv mod, probably going to need a new HPOP at some point, and a few smaller things. I have boost, pyro and fuel psi gauges already. This is my daily driver and I commute about 75miles a day and currently get around 20 mpg (I drive like a old lady). I've been looking at stage 1 AIS 160/30's, but not sure if something different would suit me better. Looking to see around 400 hp but nothing crazy where I will have to do tons of engine upgrades. I have a SCT SF3 that can get custom tunes to run the new single shot injectors. I'm sure I missed something here.

I'm not one to "recommend" what to spend your money on, but I would not go custom sticks again (bigger nozzles, modified capacities, hybrids, etc...). New ACs or new ADs for me. ACs put down good torque on the low end and respectable HP at high RPMs. The big nozzles are for the sake of HP, not torque.

I have also been thinking that, but have no first hand knowledge like you do and really don't know the difference between any of them. I will definitely be going new and I'm pretty sure I want to go with single shots but again unsure of advantages and disadvantages. Stage 2 AC 165cc? Dependability with a little more pep is my goal.

Plain ol' ACs, good tunes, and more air will certainly do that. Stage IIs might be a little overkill... at least it is for me.

So your stock injectors are good? I would not replace them. If all mods.are because of ccold start I and your gpr.a.glow plugs are good check your bats. Run thinner oil in winter cycle your glow plugs 3 or 4 time before starting. Of course some of those mods would be nice to have anyway.

As far as I know my injectors are fine. No hesitation, boost levels are solid. I did switch to synthetic oil, Rotella 5w40 and it does start and run much better now. Still does not start below 40 no matter how many times I let the gp's run. I have new ones on hand so I will be changing those and the harness as soon as I figure out the injector questions. The only reason for changing them is because I was told I would need larger ones because of the upgraded turbo.

There has to be a reason your truck wont start under 40 degrees. I would hold.off on the turbo hpop injectors a d go with glow plugs uvch gpr and batts if yours have been in their awhile.

Once you have the cold starts figured out you could do those mods. As far as power upgrade I did a dp tuner and got more boost without having to upvrade the turbo or injectors. Just my thoughts

Bingo, let's solve your problem first. Have you checked to make sure your IPR is actually working properly? Ohming the glow plugs themselves is great, but if the GPR is not juicing them up it doesn't matter what they're ohm-ing at.

As I figured, bad gp's. Replaced them and the gp harness and all is good with the cold start issue. 38R will be here Thursday so back to what injectors. I'm torn between AIS 160/30s or Alliant stage 1 AC 165cc.

You don't need injectors with a 38r turbo.

I knew I could run it on stocks, but I was unsure how well it would run vs new sticks. I will probably just install it this weekend with the CFM intake and new boots and see how it runs.

I just finished installing the 38R, high flow outlet, non-EBPV pedistal and CFM intake manifold. Wow what a change. The sound is awsome and it sure seems to get up and go alot faster. The only thing that I have noticed is that my EOT is now pushing 190* after about 15 minutes of driving at 65. I know this is not super high but when I was using my stock turbo I was sitting around 170 unless I was getting on it. Any reason what it would go up so much?
