2004 escape whining
my uncles 2004 escape with 4wd started having a whine in the front part of the car about a year ago. now its really bad. its not the front hub assemblies not ball joints or upper control arms and its not a cv joint. the car drives steers stops and shifts great. it sounds like metal on metal grinding you start to hear the grinding at 5 mph and just gets worse all the way up to 70mph. any advice would be appreciated.

try pulling the rear drive shaft my bearing center support bearing went bad and it sounded like the wheel bearing was bad.Easy to remove and easy to replace the bearing got mine from rock auto.
