Totally stumped on this one (92 F-150 5.8) I was having intermittent starting issues, where if the truck would start right up, when i shut it off it would not start unless i shot some gogo juice in the air intake then it ran perfect while running, asked around and fuel pump seemed to be the culprit, put a new one in and before i bolted the skid shield back on , i tried it and it started up instantly, hooray!! bolted the rest of it together and now it won't start at all. Next I replaced the fuel pressure regulator....still nothing.
Anybody have any ideas, any help is greatly appreciated Thank You and..Merry Christmas!!
Went out and rented a fuel pressure gauge, but while i was in the parts place, i picked up a filter for piece of mind, installed that and the truck started right up, and would keep starting. I thought problem was cured so i brought back the gauge. So here is the issue, when I let the truck sit for a while it is a bitch to start, takes forever, but once it starts it will keep starting unless it sits for a while, like it loses pressure.
So...........Any ideas??
the new pump runs for about 3 seconds prior to trying to start, it has dual tanks, but i don't use the rear one (leaks), has spark
JUST AN UPDATE, AFTER CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP, FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR, FUEL FILTER, AND TIGHTENING THE LUG NUTS , IT TURNED OUT IT WAS THE TFI MODULE, THE EASIEST ALMOST CHEAPEST PART OF THE WHOLE ORDEAL. GOOD FOR ANOTHER 50K MILES!!
