Valve Covers

Hello and Merry Christmas and a great New Year!

I need to remove my valve covers so that I can paint them.

I do not have a garage and the truck is parked in front of the apartments exposed to the elements.

I will have them off for a couple of days at least as I have wire separators ordered that bolt to the valve covers.

Do you think covering the engine with a blanket will be enough protection for the valve train? What else could I do?

Thank you and Godspeed!

Boon

Close the hood

My Van also has currently an open engine.
Removed valve covers, intake and timing cover - now I'm waiting for a new camshaft in the mail

I just put some rags over the engine - there's no dirt coming in.
My E150 also stands outside in the yard, but under a canopy

Hello and good afternoon.

I was planning on closing the hood it is just we have wind blowing almost daily and freezing rain, sleet and of course snow.

With the hood closed and a blanket over the engine should be enough.

Take care and Merry Christmas!

The only thing would be dirt blown in by the wind as no water should make it there and the oil coating over the valve train parts will prevent any rust to take hold in the 2 days you say the covers will be off.
