We are a small VFD with a 2003 F500 6.0. We have had some turbo issues that seem to be resolved and are now dealing with an intake sensor issue. At times, (not always) the truck is very unresponsive for the first 1 to 2 minutes. Once past this point, the truck runs strong with no other issues. The sensor was tracked and appeared to be operating normally.
Up top of this forum there are sticky to help, read all that stuff,it's a big help.A monitor is a must with these engines, you have to know whats going on with the values, because one WILL change the other. I'll bet you have low FICM voltage from the sound of it
How old are the batteries, and have they been load tested individually and the alternator ck 'd for voltage at full load. If it isn't putting out 14.2 with all the gear on it's killing the FICM. Been there and seen it happen.

That's a good start PFD. What Per4mance means about a monitor is a device that has specific "guages" or values that will enable both us and you to properly keep an eye on said values. Here at FTE, there are some favorites. Scanguage II, Dashboss for I phone, Torque Pro for Android.

Batteries are 4 yrs old
Here are some volt meter numbers:
off the battery - 12.7v
with the ignition switched on (waiting for glow plugs) - 11.5v
starting - 10.5
idle - 12.0
high idle 12.2
after about 45 seconds the meter jumps to 14.4
We let the truck sit for about 15 minutes and tried it again. Got similar results but reached 14.4v in half the time. Truck is equipped with duel alternators.
Describe stumble, when/where/ cold/Hot? Under acceleration at engine temp any? What code or sensor did the Tech write down on your service visit? IAT1 or IAT 2
Does anyone there have a scanner that can read can bus codes? If so get the FICM voltages before start ,at idle, and 2500 RPM there is something def going on here,we'll have you get to the bottom of it !
The stumbling is an intermittent problem (feels like it running on 5 out of 8). Had one of my members, a Toyota mechanic (I know...I know), attached a remote meter to the charging system and went for a quick ride. The system produced 12.8v for nearly 1 minute yet the truck ran flawlessly from the start.
I'm told that the dual alternator arrangement in the ambulance package (which this has), delays the 2nd by design, but that it can be modified.
I'll be having a face to face with the Ford mechanic today to get the specifics on what he found.
