mopar abs

Hi,
Possibly one of you fine folks might have a hint here.

I have an 05 Dodge Grand Caravan. For the 2nd winter in a row, I've started getting an ABS light. Last winter it came on around this time, and was intermittent. Finally cleared up in the spring ( good timing).

One of the parts stores tried their Equus scanner on it, but it couldn't read the mopar abs info.

I'm guessing that something is somehow icing up, but the tone wheels are pretty well protected. Maybe something to do with the actuator. Strangely enough, this time, it tried to work while the light was on -- but it was decidedly weaker.

Find a scanner that will read the abs codes even if you gotta buy one, it's cheaper than throwing parts at it.

It probably has some metal dust on one or more wheel speed sensor, or a bad/loose plug on one.

I won't throw parts at it, but from what I can tell it's only scanners like Snap On (many K$ ) or mopar's stupid DRB3 that reads these. I'll look it over when it warms up a little, and probably eventually take it in.

Mainly it just annoys the crap out of me because I kind of liked the way that this one worked. This car and my last one are the only 2 abs vehicles that I've owned, so I do know how to pump the pedal.

I hate abs, tire slides a little let's shut off all brake power. And you.want to read my codes = $.

If it's shutting off your brakes then the system isn't working right. You won't get any more braking than the traction will allow, but the system should back off a bit once the wheel comes back up to speed.
