1979 F150 am radio ...Looking for Am / FM Radio conversion

LMC has stock "looking " units . I am too cheep for that . That is why I mounted a modern radio under the dash with a CB mount . Easy to remove , no chopping the dash . When I was into VW's years ago , there was a company , you could buy a "hidden " stereo . It went in the glove box . Sure they are still around . Many options . Some cheep , many not .

-Look around for am/fm stereos in '77-'79 Thunderbirds, Cougars, cars like that....if found they will be cheap, and with a little work it will fit right into your present stock dash.
Also, get a DUAL VOICE COIL speaker for a '71-'73 Mustang application, IT will bolt right into the stock front speaker location in the dash, then may be install some speakers in the doors-should make for a decent vintage sound system.

I could be wrong, but check with number dummy on the cross compatibility of the radio's. I have found in the past several am/fm and am/fm stereo units in the older cars LTD, Torino, and Thunderchicken. Keep in mind the two are NOT the same. I decided not to mess with the small wiring modification and kept the original radio. I just had it gone through when I had the aux jack put in. new fuse, transistor and a couple of capacitor and resistors I love the old guy that did the work grumpy as he can be he's amazing!
