Ok I have a 92 f150 4x4 w/5.8l w in it. Im looking for best bang for buck kinda deal for performance as well as future mods for better gains. I know the basics long tube headers, cai, chip, tbi spacer, exhaust. Any one thing better than the other brand better or tuner option over chip. Aftermarket heads to retain fuel injection, what bout cam options, thanks in advance

What trans, axle gearing, and tires size on the truck and how do you use it?
Gearing is the single best upgrade to improve overall vehicle performance, followed by a cam, full exhaust system including headers, and then aftermarket heads and intake. CAI, TB spacer, and chips are a complete waste of money on these trucks though once you improve the engine enough it will need a bigger air induction/filter system, but the stock setup is no restriction at all until everything I mentioned above has been upgraded.
Its automatic trans Im not sure if its the aod eod or whatever. Gearing is factory and so is tire size at the moment I would like to run about a 33 or so after I lift it. I just got the truck and want it to be a lake wuth some mud trail use but still be able to pull 16ft trailer loaded down with atvs.
Find the axle and trans codes on the calibration decal located on the drivers door pillar and compare to the info found on this page.. Ford Axle Code Chart .: Articles
You want 4.10 gears for a 33" tire so do that first then get the exhaust and a cam done, the Crane 444232 is the ticket on this motor and Pacesetter longtubes are the best fitting option of decent quality. You can put any style exhaust system you like behind the headers but keep it at 2.25" to 2.5" if you use duals or 2.5" to 3" for a single. These 3 things will really wake up the truck, you can also do something called a 6Liter tunup which was named after a member here that went by the name "6Liter", it's a high voltage ignition upgrade combined with advancing the base timing from 10 deg BTDC to 12-14deg, this also produces noticable results even without any of the other more involved mods.
