no start, no turn over, nothing

Hey peoples, my 1999 f150 5.0 doesn't start. I was experiencing a delay before it started for a couple days then one day it didn't start, doesn't turn over, nothing. I hear the fuel lines and I also get power for everything
I thought it was the starter solenoid buhh replaced that to no avail.
Please help if you can...

To my knowledge the 302 was put on the shelf after 1996. In 97 in the f150's they came with a 5.4l and perhaps a 4.6l not sure if they carried the 300 straight 6 over after 96.

Turn the headlights on, turn the key to the crank position , if the lights go out , check the battery for 12 volts, and all of the battery cables, for swelling and corrosion.
If 5 he lights stay bright , have the starter checked.

I'm thinking there might be a typo made?

I'd look at ignition switch. Do you get 12v at the solenoid every time you turn the key? If not, check ignition switch under dash.

Probably a typo, yes. FWIW 302 was in the Explorer through 2001. 300 died an untimely death in 1996.

As far as the actual question, I'd definitely look at cable connections. If the battery terminals are corroded, replace the terminal with a solder-on connector, not the cheesy clamp on type.

Is it an automatic? Have you tried putting it in Neutral and trying to start? Could be the neutral safety switch. If you turn the key to run and shift into reverse do the reverse lights come on?

You will need to remove the starter to have it checked.
The process I explained works for all vehicles.

^this is your first step and points to or rules out a few things.takes 5 seconds at most with a test light and an assistant.

tip;
often solenoids will stick in cold weather.all it takes a little tap,tap,tap (fender and or starter mounted) to unstick them.

Take something that is bare metal, the correct length and heavy enough to carry the load, and connect it between the two large solenoid terminals. Just do this briefly for troubleshooting. This will bypass the neutral start switch, or the clutch safety switch if you have a manual transmission, the ignition switch and the solenoid.

It still won't eliminate a bad battery, cables or connections.
