The only thing holding me back from getting it done is the last one was so crappy that they laid 3 wires (not twisted together) on top of each other and blobed solder on it until they stayed. Then used electrical tape which fell off so I had exposed wire everywhere which in my eyes is a dash fire waiting to happen.

I use my remote start regularly. The security of not having your truck unlocked with the keys in it during warm ups is the real winner.
I ALWAYS leave my truck running when I stop for coffee, or for a quick run into a convenience store. Activate the remote start, turn the ignition off, and take your keys with you. Truck stays running with the heat (or AC) on and you don't have to worry about someone driving off with it.
