Help

What is the normal rpm to run in idle also at 55 for an f-350 power stroke 7.3...seems high. Just replaced the water separator seal, now it's running high and rough.

At speed it depends on your gears , what do have for RPM idle?

At idle 500 to 1000 RPM depending on if it is cold and the high idle kicks in at 55 that depends on your gearing At 55 MPH you should be under or around1600 to 1800 RPM IIRC

The rough ile you have now is due to air being introduced in the fuel system, that is normal when you replace that seal.

It's been cold in the morning and has had trouble getting started. Will the air eventually go away?

Yes, if you drive it for about 50 miles, it should smooth out.

Alright, the oil is just due it's over only a couple hundred miles. I went 5000 miles. The oil is 15-40. I was thinking maybe the glow plugs too. it does take it a bit to warm up. I let it run for about 10 minutes. It is just super sensitive on the gas pedal, when it wasn't like that before. That's beside it not wanting to warm up.

Test your GPR as mentioned above. Switching to synthetic oil helped my romps. Now that I have 30 gallons of Mobil 1 in the garage it looks like I'll be running that for a while.

Also switch to 5w40 not 15w40 that should help cold starts. Don't be afraid to cycle the glow plugs a couple times. Just because your wait to start light shuts off doesn't mean you have to start cranking. They usually stay on for about 90 seconds to two mins anyways. If you hook up a glow plug led you'll know when they turn on anf shut off.
