Econoline snorkel

So I've seen some homemade snorkels for E series vans on google but can't find any info on how they did them. The main one I seen was on a V10 van like mine but they removed the battery to exit on the passenger side and the post about it isn't detailed. I'm not going to take my van deep enough to really need a snorkel, but I'd like to have one because it could IMHO increase air flow into the motor, allow the motor to have cleaner air, and look mean. I have the basic design in my head but ran into a few available space issues. Anybody know how I can route a 3-4 inch flextube from my air box to a fender?

Just removing the stock silencer from the inlet side of the aircleaner will help tremendously. (that's coming straight from Ford) If you don't like the intake noise (sounds identical to the old "flipped air cleaner lid" on the older vehicles) you can always fabricate something to replace that with. I sawed off most of the silencer on mine, back to where I could fit 1-1/2" radiator hoses over the sawed ends (had another slice in the middle where the tubes were joined that remained open) and used some old curved radiator hoses that pointed downward toward the grille opening on the passenger side of the radiator. This both removed the restriction of the silencer and suppressed the intake noise while letting more air into the air box.

I'll try that. Sound isn't a problem, I'm straight piped and have subwoofers. I can't hear anything to begin with lol
