Going about upgrading/renewing my '03 E250 suspension---decided front coils were next up. Knowing Ford charges at least $100 each side (my cost) for these boogers I was pleasantly shocked and delighted to learn Moog's HD replacements were a whopping $94 for the pair SHIPPED to the front porch---Amazon all the way!
For an extra $8 you could have gotten them from RockAuto.
(yes, I totally stalked you and used your vehicle specs and hometown ZIP code for shipping).
Not sure whether to be flattered or skered?!?!
Not convinced RockAuto is any better than Amazon, not for the same part anyway. Yeah it's "only $8 more.........." but that $8 buys lunch or is better in MY pocket!
Moog's specs on that number is: variable rate, HD replacement for stock, 590# per inch. Free length/installed length: 15.895"/13" for a total static load of 1708# per side.
Fabulous purchase ( and I mean that in the most Hetero way )
I was wondering why you decided to go the spring replacement vibe....
I did not bother..since I have a 1000lb engine and was driving on rails anyway....
BUT I Had excessive Tire wear and you could see the obvious Camber Issues....my ball joints on one side were really bad.... I did Everything except for springs..........I figured they are the most HD anyway and it is not a 4x4....After I did the Ball joints.... I did the raduis arm bushings.....New Shocks....Brakes re-fresh ...blah..blah..blah....
Got the alignment done at a Professional Place......Hardick Spring & Exhaust Systems Ltd - 7 Tangiers Rd, North York, ON
He also did my springs....He does Big stuff ..makes springs from Blanks..real old school.... He told me how to dismatle my Raduis arms to make it faster for re-assembly....reasonable as well.....Do you do your own wrenching ?

Understood, accepted and didn't think you meant that any other way!

Honestly because I'm probably a bit **** about handling or the lack thereof in our vehicles of choice. I want almost no body roll when on freeway exit/entrance ramps or should a rapid lane change be necessary. Having already done everything upfront including new steering box (leaking seal) ball joints and all remaining tie rod ends too. Urethane radius arm and axle pivot bushings plus Bilstein shocks mostly complete the renewal. Also running a Hellwig sway bar.
I've experienced first hand what new front coils can do on another van that had even higher mileage than my current one. Along with Michelin LTX tires and a Hellwig rear sway bar that van was simply amazing. Raised roof, daily driving weight of 7,800# tend to make a twitchy handling van---mine had no issues there.

I will do some things but am very, very fortunate to work around a corps of talented yet under paid mechanics who work cheap after hours. I also know a few very good big truck shops that also work cheap but more importantly know how to align and deal with a van. In fact given that their typical customers are heavy trucks and equipment an E250 or E350 is pretty much a toy to them.
My alignment shop of choice is Smith Springs, several locations here in central Ohio. I have to drive about 35 miles for my alignment by them but a new shop less than 10 miles will soon enough have its own new rack. Lasers and computer-based alignment racks are well and good for Mr & Ms Joe Customer but I want results not flash---Smith Spings does that daily!
Nice Christmas present for your van, JWA! Definitely a good deal too.
Yeah--'twas a good deal--hence the "shock" part! Last set I bought & had installed ran me Just over $300 but no idea the brand name of those. Its really moot since the chassis they were fitted to wasn't of stock ride height anyway---stock or anything off-the-shelf would have not worked.
I'm happy with this purchase fer sure!
