I am helping a Buddy that is looking to drop his Cummings into a crew cab ford. What automatics were available behind the 7.3psd. The one in particular he is looking at is the 4R100. If there are any other engines that this was available behind please let me know. Also with that did ford continue to use Dana axles into the newer trucks or did they change Thank you for the help as I looked on Google for the tranny info and could not find out.
Where did your friend get his Cummings? I've heard a lot about how much coal they roll and how big their ghost trailers are but I've never seen one.
The 4R100 was the only automatic behind the 7.3. You will also find our behind a Superduty 5.4 and V10. Its cousin the 4R70 was used in F150s and they week sometimes upgrade to the 100.
Auto correct strikes again His Cummins is from a 99 2500. It's the 24 valve and has put a lot of work into it. Of all my friends he is the only one I have told there is no reason for us to race because I would only have him till the light turns
Was the 4R100 offered behind the early 6.0 as well or did they switch to the 5r100 right away
Not true. The three speed C6 was available through 1996 and the E4OD was available 1989-1998.

That's wrong. Only a trans from a 6.9L or 7.3L will bolt to a 7.3L. The gas engine transmissions have a different bolt pattern and WILL NOT bolt to a 7.3L
