Hello
i have been a fs bronco owner for a while and i would like to lend you my advice.. I would have to agree with the other user who was elaborating about the cv collar ( 86fsbronco ) I had alot of vibration and noise associated with that part in my 1995 fs bronco. It caused the truck to shift hard into gear from park and you could feel the slop in the take off from a stop sign. I you have checked all the u-joints and the axles feel tight i would almost bet that it is that cv collar bearing.
ok. Thank you. I've been looking for the collar and I cannot find it anywhere. Mine does have it. I just cannot find the part at any of the auto stores around. Where could I find one? I'm just gonna rebuild my driveshaft.
I found one at my local Carquest as a repair kit. but my best advice would be rock auto they normally have everything in stock. if not that should get you a part name to check with other stores. and a drive shaft rebuild will never hurt especially in a bronco because they have this thing called a middle adapter that connects the tcase and trans thats used as a fail safe to protect the trans and that middle adaptor is a pain to find lol
its not horrible but its not fun either becasue you have to deal with the exhaust and clearance between floor pan and top of t-case lol mine broke on me and left the t-case sitting in the skid plat
ouch that sucks. I'll look into it. Check it out and stuff. I removed my driveshaft because of the vibration and popping at 40 mph when I let off the has. Put it back on and now it is doing it at 50 instead. I greased up the ball in the CV collar as good as I could. So I feel like that def might be it.
question. i know when you remove the driveshaft, you need to mark everything so you know which way it goes back in/together. when i rebuilt my driveshaft
none of the new parts will be marked. Is there a way to ensure that everything gets put back together properly? Or does it not matter with new parts?
If I recall correctly the only concern that you should have about part fitment is which two eared flange goes on which end I would personally tear it apart and rebuild it then reassemble right away.
eared flange? I'm sorry. This is a first time working on this part of the truck so I don't know much. Could you possibly give me a little more detail please?
When you have the first front u -joint pulled a part the 2 eared flange will be disconnected from the cv collar if you take a pic I could probably describe it better for ya. But if you are mechanically inclined you will figure it out as you take it apart. I just recommend I joint at a time.
I believe I understand what your talking about now. Yeah, once I start to tear something apart I normally get it. So just do one joint at a time then. Thanks for the advice. Now all I need to do is find me the CV collar. Haha.
