My wife has a 2012 Expedition. Lately, the heater will not blow warm air at idle speeds. When we "get on the gas" it will start to blow warm/hot air. It does the same for the front and rear systems. At first, I thought sure it was a vacuum line issue. However, I saw mention in a couple of other forums issues with the cooling system. That got me to thinking...
I've noticed an occasional "gurgle" from the heater core. I've also noticed that the cooling fans will seem to kick it into high gear every once in a while (even idling.) They go from doing their normal thing to sounding like a jet engine. The coolant reservoir shows to be full. I've not seen the temperature needle move; no signs of overheating.
All this sounds like a low coolant issue . The " gurgle " nails it . BUT you say it is full ? Air pocket ? these should bleed out easy . When are you checking the coolant , stone cold ? Pull the cap stone cold , start truck with heaters on . run with cap off and Watch coolant level .
I think you are right JWC 3! I went back out after letting it run a while and then having time to cool off and the bubble must have worked its way around, as the coolant level is now showing low. I'll get some juice in the morning and get it filled up. Thanks for the help and advice!
