I did a smoke test on the vacuum system today (1985 F150 4.9 Carb) and was actually surprised to find only two leaks (of course when those are fixed, I'm sure more will appear). The one was under the Carb Spacer / EGR plate. No big deal as I haven't installed the carb yet and don't have a gasket there yet.
The other was at the PCV valve; the lower connection to the larger hose. Again, no big deal - just replace the hose.
Here is where the stupid question comes in.
How do you get the hose off on the EGR plate? It doesn't look to have a barbed fitting or a clamp that I can loosen. Does it screw in? Nothing to get a wrench on so I'm confused.
