I have a 2001 Excursion Limited 7.3L 156,000 miles, 4x4 stock(even the tires)
So when start slowing down usually only when slowing while hitting the brakes there is a thud, klunk whatever a noise coming from the front. problem is when i jack up the the front to look can't find anything loose or signs of rubbing. And I jacked up the front and put the jack stands on the frame to take the load off the suspension. I also checked the front hubs. Ideas?
Sway bar was my problem on my Ex. I am not sure how the calipers are set up on the Ex. I had an 89 f-250, developed a clunk. Over a year of me,mechanic shops looking for the source. The clunk was finally found. It was the "wedge" that you tap in to place to hold the caliper in place. The rubber sandwiched in the "wedge" had deteriorated to where it would not be snug, allowing caliper to bang around when hitting bumps.
Might be worth looking at if they are still setup that way.
