99 f350 rear abs truck weighs 10,500 fully loaded with sand/plow etc
Even truck empty still has same problem. Truck needs 4 wheels to stop.
Problem the rear brakes are not biased enough to help stop the truck..
In 2wd the fronts will lock really easy and you will not stop on snowy roads or my downhill driveway. VERY DANGEROUS Its like no brakes. I have lockers in both ends so when I put it in 4wd all 4 wheels are locked together which allows me to stop fine adding the rears BUT the front pads are still doing all the work.
With rear abs why not bias the brakes harder and allow the abs to activate..
How can I get more brake to the rear????Plus it would stop easier with less pedal effort..
far from being an expert here ... but my first though would be to try changing to a more aggressive pad in the rear. That can make a significant difference, in my experience.
maybe others will chime in with other ideas or suggestions on pad material/brand.
another though is an aftermarket adjustable proportioning valve. not quite sure how that works with ABS, though.
I remember my old toyota had a rod that would change the bias..I locked it all the way down and the brakes were amazing....I tried brakes pads not a big change. Had the best back there.. I would love to put in an adj proportion valve in there that would really help out because I could change it on the fly.
