Correct. That configuration was only offered in the last years of the body style ('94-96), when they were trying to use up the parts before switching to the current body.
While Ford didn't produce any off the assembly line, that doesn't mean it wasn't a custom, like Centurion, or some body did a decent job of shorting the frame and putting a shortbed behind it.
It's a possibility, but Ford didn't mass produce the crewcab short bed's in the 80's.
I have a '84 Ford crewcab with long bed, and it isn't a dually. It's a F350 4X4, with a 460. I bought it new. I could have gotten any engine I wanted in it. In 1984 Ford crewcabs were available only in the F350 class and XT was the "classiest" you could get. Since then, 250s and smaller are being built.

nah im going to have to just get a bronco. becuase my truck has a good exterior only rust is in the cab tops where the front glass is and inside the headliner and on the beam where the door of the driver is where the whole problem started, so i have until december when i get my license to deciede on what to do. thanks for everybody help on this idea.
I have a 1986 f-350 crew cab two wheel drive it has a 351W out of the factory non catalytic converter I am very happy with the truck I have only seen one other. I heard that ford only sold the the truck to the the goverment. I don' t know how true that is. I am working on restoring it now. the gas milage isn't the best but thats ok.
Not sure this is the right place, but since there's some discussion of bed lengths, you guys might know the answer to this.
My recently acquired F350 Crewcab Dually has some rust problems. Nothing is completely rotted out, but there are blisters under the paint, and in some cases, paint is flaking off.
My question is this...how hard is it to take the bed off one of these trucks? Is it easier/cheaper for me to go find a bed with no rust around the fenders and just swap it out, instead of trying to get the rust blisters fixed?
Will a regular bed work with a dually axle? The dually fenders are fiberglass, so they're in good shape, and I'd move them onto the new bed...
And if the answer to this is yes, what is the range of years for the donor vehicle, in order for the parts to be compatible?
Well I just looked it up in the years 80-86 crewcabs were only available in 1 ton models. They could be ordered either SRW or DRW in a long bed only. They came in either 2 or 4wd with either a 4spd manual or 3spd automatic transmission. The engines available were: 300I6, 351V8, 460V8, or the 6.9L diesel (420V8)
